Oxgangs - A Pastime From Time Past #5 Mis-Adventures - Mad, Bad, Stupid and Dangerous

Graeme Robb: 'What stupid/dangerous things did you get up to as a youngster?'

1. Put the youngest person inside the bonfire to stop the raiders from Oxgangs Farm side setting on fire or stealing.
2. Going up the firing range when red flag flying to get bullets.
3. Forcing the padlock to go in the tunnels under The City Hospital with no torch getting lost and rescued by police.
4. Forcing the padlock on Fox Spring climbing down the ladder in complete darkness to get a handfull of the best water.

Douglas Begbie: 'Walking across the frozen canal'.

Graeme Robb 'Sledging down Oxgangs Road as a bus was trying to get up'.

Lisa Sibbald: 'Was it only boys who did these stupid things?'                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    June Rafferty: 'I remember walking across the canal, or at least on it a wee bit lol'.

Douglas Begbie: 'Racing down the Farm Drive - no brakes straight across the main road - God knows how we made it to adulthood'.

John McDonaugh: 'Breaking into the Anderson shelters where the kept the straw dummies for bayonet practice and shitting yourself because you thought they were soldiers'.
