'And finally, not everyone’s being doing topical. In fact, here’s the rather lovely 6 Oxgangs Avenue devoted to the history of the development of the area, this week highlighting how the block of flats came into being. Could have been prompted by Who do you think you are? Or just a timely reminder that not everything worth blogging about is in the here and now.'

Oxgangs - A Pastime From Time Past #3 Village In The Sky

From Christine Vincenti: 'This is a link to the booklet 'Village in the Sky: High Rise Living in Oxgangs' which may be of interest to anyone with an Oxgangs connection. We published this booklet with funding from Dunedin Canmore when the flats were demolished. George Williamson wrote and directed a play on this theme which was presented at Pentland Community Centre. We also had an exhibition in Pentland Community Centre and Oxgangs Library. I believe that the exhibition boards are still in the Library.'

Comment from Paul Forbes: 'When the Pre-fabs were demolished , my family were moved along the road a bit to Oxgangs Medway. The gable end of the building in the middle of the photo , bottom flat , became our new home for a while.'
